An Android Police writer has a Gemini scheduled action that runs at 7am every day: it checks the local forecast and suggests a comfortable outfit based on the clothes he likes, and says whether he'll need an umbrella for his commute.
Check today's weather forecast for [YOUR TOWN]. Based on my preference for [CLOTHES YOU LIKE, E.G. SMART-CASUAL, LAYERS, TRAINERS], suggest a comfortable outfit for today's temperature, wind and rain, and tell me whether I need an umbrella or a coat for my [COMMUTE OR SCHOOL RUN].
Replace the [PLACEHOLDERS] with your own details before you send it.
How to try it
- Open the Gemini app, type the prompt, then ask Gemini to run it every morning at a set time (or use Scheduled actions in its settings).
- Tweak your clothing preferences the first few days until the suggestions feel right.
- Use the same trick for other morning decisions, like a weekend meal plan every Friday.

Dictate notes on the go and let ChatGPT tidy them
On Hacker News, one user who's often away from their computer starts a temporary ChatGPT chat, dictates their thoughts, and asks it to repeat them back cleaned up without changing the content, then pastes the result into their notes app.
Take the following dictation and repeat it back to me without adding anything. Don't change the meaning; just fix punctuation, remove filler words and split it into paragraphs. [START TALKING]
Find old photos and the details in them with Ask Photos
A MakeUseOf writer with a decade of pictures uses Ask Photos, Gemini in Google Photos, to find specific shots by describing them and to pull text out of images. It found the licence plate of the writer's first car from photos taken when it was put up for sale.
Find the photos I took of [THING, E.G. MY OLD CAR / THE BOILER LABEL / THE WIFI CODE ON THE ROUTER] around [ROUGH DATE OR PLACE], and tell me the [TEXT YOU NEED, E.G. REGISTRATION NUMBER / SERIAL NUMBER] shown in them.
Triage a pile of unread email with Claude
Facing 47 unread emails and a stack of bills, a dad uses Claude's Gmail connection to sort his inbox into what needs action, what can wait and what's noise, asks follow-ups such as whether an insurance email needs doing, and had it help word a polite 'not this time' to a school fundraiser.
Look through my unread emails from [TIME PERIOD]. Sort them into three groups: needs action from me (with the deadline if there is one), can wait, and just noise. For anything that needs action, tell me in one line what I have to do. Don't reply to or delete anything.
