Turn a messy garage photo into a staged listing picture with Grok or ChatGPT

One seller put a scruffy garage photo of a recliner into Grok or ChatGPT and asked it to place the chair in a nice living room from the same angle, looking like a normal phone photo. He posted the staged image on Marketplace and the chair sold within a few hours for the asking price.

Prompt to copy
Here is a photo of a [ITEM] I'm selling. Isolate the [ITEM] and place it in a [STYLE, E.G. COSY, BRIGHT] living room. Keep the same angle and don't change the item itself in any way, including its colour, wear or size. Make it look like an ordinary phone photo, not a professional shoot.

Replace the [PLACEHOLDERS] with your own details before you send it.

How to try it

  1. Upload your real photo and ask for a staged version that leaves the item unchanged.
  2. Check the result carefully so it shows the item honestly, including any marks or wear.
  3. Post the staged image alongside at least one real photo so buyers know exactly what they’re getting.
